Duties & Responsibilities
RK&K is seeking a highly motivated Traffic Engineer with 2 to 5 years of experience to join our successful team in Baltimore. As a Traffic Engineer at RK&K you will play a crucial role in performing traffic analysis and design to identify strategies to improve transportation systems throughout the region. Our projects focus on improving pedestrian and bicycle safety, improving roadway operations and safety, providing healthy and livable communities, and implementing technology-based operational improvements. As a Traffic Engineer for RK&K you will work alongside and collaborate with a vibrant and talented professional team while working with comprehensive travel demand models, robust data platforms, sophisticated simulation models, state of the art operations software, and powerful computer design software.
Essential Function
You will perform traffic engineering tasks such as: transportation safety evaluation, traffic operations analysis, traffic control device design, ITS system implementation, and travel demand modeling
Perform work on projects creating healthy communities, improving pedestrian and bicycle safety, and increasing transportation options
Perform work on projects ranging from small scale studies and design for isolated intersections to complex solutions for urban arterial networks and major highway systems
Perform design on innovative transportation solutions implementing Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) devices, ATMS software applications, and traffic signal systems
Collaborate with clients and public stakeholders including opportunities for work on-site at client offices
Job Requirements
Minimum bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related
E.I.T. and ability to obtain P.E. license within 2 years of hire
Prior experience working in a traffic or transportation engineering related firm
Two (2) – Five (5) years of progressive experience in traffic engineering
Good writing, verbal communication and presentation skills including public speaking
Experience with traffic analysis tools (Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, or ISATe) or traffic design tools (Microstation, Agi32, or GuideSIGN)
