Duties & Responsibilities
- This individual will work with a team of engineers, scientists, GIS professionals, and planners to assist with and lead the development of studies and designs associated with ecological/stream restoration projects
- This position will involve field and office work performing physical field surveys of streams, evaluating existing conditions, conducting functional assessments, developing restoration design solutions, and overseeing environmental restoration construction
- Support environmental restoration design projects including but not limited to stream, floodplain, stormwater management, wetland, and shoreline restoration projects
- Developing design reports, construction plans, specifications and estimates of probable costs
- Conducting watershed evaluations and water quality monitoring in support of stormwater management and ecosystem restoration designs
- Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support ecological restoration projects
- Communicating and collaborating with the project team, project managers, clients, and local communities; and collecting field data (e.g. GPS data collection, geomorphic survey, etc.)
- Manage projects and interact with clients in the delivery of world-class solutions
Job Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrology or related discipline
- Two (2) years of experience assisting in ecological stream restoration and stormwater management projects in a consulting capacity
- Exceptional knowledge in stream restoration design, fluvial geomorphology, sediment transport, stream ecology and stream/watershed assessment
- Project design experience related to stream, floodplain, wetland, living shoreline, and stormwater management practice
- Experience performing field work for geomorphic assessments, functional stream assessments, physical restoration monitoring, and environmental restoration construction oversight
- Experience with CAD, Microstation, ArcGIS and ESRI software
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to work both collaboratively/in a team environment and independently
- Ability to work in physically challenging outdoor settings
- Engineer in Training (EIT)
Job Preferences
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or similar
- Four (4) - six (6) years of experience assisting in ecological stream restoration and stormwater management projects in a consulting capacity
- Rosgen Training – Levels 1 through 4, or similar stream restoration implementation training
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models, including HEC-RAS 1D & 2D
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) Registration or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment
