Your Opportunity


Stantec is seeking to hire a highly motivated, ambitious, Water Resource Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience. The position will offer the opportunity to provide design and obtain permits for SWM, Storm Drain Systems, and other H/H design analysis on small and large transportation projects, from planning stage to final design construction documents, in Maryland as well as other areas of the Mid-Atlantic region. The position is available in our Towson, MD, or Laurel, MD office.



Lead and design best management practices for storm water management and erosion & sediment control projects

Obtain permits from State and local agencies

Develop storm drain design and SWM analysis reports

Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support SWM

Perform Culvert and bridge hydraulic analysis, including scour analysis

Perform Field Work to evaluate field conditions

Communicate and collaborate with the project team, project managers, clients, and local communities

Support construction projects by reviewing submittals, answering RFI’s, and conducting field visits to ensure compliance with the contract drawings and specification

Mentor junior level engineers.


Job Requirements

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree

10 years’ engineering experience including specialized experience with SWM, drainage, and erosion/sediment control design

Maryland PE (Professional Engineer) certification

Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills

Experience in all aspects of storm runoff H/H design in Maryland

Experience with CAD design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation) preferred

Experience related to storm water management, Storm Drain Design, and erosion and sediment control design for developing construction plans

Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models, including HEC-RAS

Experience in roadway drainage

Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record

Proficient in MDOT procedures
