Mid Atlantic Region School Wins National Award

For the first time in 26 Years, a middle school from our Region, MidAtlantic, which encompassed Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC 
won NATIONAL FINALS in the future cities competition. 

More information about the winning team, Edlin School from Reston Virginia, is on the first page of the Future City Website.

The team of 6th and 7th graders, Vinay Ayala, 7th, Lucas Ribeiro, 7th, Spencer Zhang, 7th,  Nikhil Kuntipuram, 6th,  Nikitha Kuntipuram, 6th,  and Raghav Sriram,6th, represented very well amongst the best of the best of 45 schools across the United States, from China, Canada and Nigeria. The Team was lead by Vasantha Ayala and Nandhini Kuntipuram.

This Team also won People Choice at Regional Finals.

The National Judges were extremely impressed with the Teams' solutions that they presented in their City Halona. Hopefully you had a chance to watch them LIVE. If not, no worries, it will be available on YouTube shortly.

Edlin School also won National Special Awards for Best Model and Best Use of Energy Grid. 

For winning first place the team will be attending Space Camp this summer. Space Camp is located in Huntsville, Ala., where America's space program was born. Huntsville is home to the second largest research park in the United States and the fourth largest in the world. They also won $7500 from Bentley.
