Duties & Responsibilities
Performs civil engineering and/or architectural work in plan review and in the development of capital projects for the public works department. The work involves review of plans that are subject to County review and management of the design and construction of capital projects as assigned. Work is complex and may involve numerous calculations in disciplines such as in storm water management or other technical expertise. Employees in this class may be required to serve on a variety of special projects related to County engineering or architectural issues. The work requires training in civil engineering or architecture and/or considerable prior experience. The worker in this class provides technical supervision.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)

Training and/or Education:
Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or architecture.

Six years of progressively responsible civil engineering, architectural or construction management experience that involved plan reviews and construction administration that must include experience managing staff, daily operations, customer service and policy development and implementation.

Licenses or Certificates:
Professional engineer certification desired.
Valid driver’s license.

Special Requirements:
Operation of County owned vehicle.

Physical Demands:
Operation of keyboard devices.

Unusual Demands:
Work is subject to deadlines and frequent interruptions.
